Gobnait

Gobnait
Gobnait f
Irish Gaelic: traditional name, of uncertain derivation. It seems to represent a feminine diminutive form of goba smith, apparently a reference to the Celtic god of craftsmanship, Gobniu. This was the name of an important Munster saint, and the name is still in use in west Munster. It was formerly often Anglicized as ABBIE (SEE Abbie) and ABIGAIL (SEE Abigail).
Variant: Gobnet (Anglicized).
